Meet Kara

“A good story knows no strangers.” – Wm. Paul Young

Hi there! I’m Kara Kemp and I am a speaker and storytelling coach for visionary leaders who wish to leverage the power of their personal narrative. For over two decades I have facilitated customized approaches for strengthening work cultures and creative leaders. I have crafted systems for companies and individuals in non-profit and for-profit sectors. I work with organizations and leadership teams on how to harness the power of storytelling to maintain momentum in their field. I am a firm believer that communication and collaboration are the keystones to effective work cultures and to encourage bold choices that expedite success.

I am a Tennessee native with an eclectic career history in management as a managing director of a theatre company, hospitality crew chief for touring bands and am currently the General Manager of Tangerine Salon and Spa, one of middle Tennessee’s largest Aveda Lifestyle Salons—named a top salon in the nation ten years in a row. I am the founder and producer of a national, award-winning storytelling event, United We Style, benefiting United Way, as well as co-creator and producer of The Bloom Stage, a multi-genre storytelling platform.

Methodology: Creative-tude

“Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it who makes a difference.” —Nolan Bushnell “There’s room for everybody on the planet to be creative and conscious if you are your own person. If you’re trying to be like somebody else, then there isn’t.” —Tori AmosCreativity can solve almost any problem. The creative act, the defeat of habit by originality, overcomes everything.” —George Lois Creativity is ranked as the number-one factor for future business success—above management discipline, integrity, and even vision. For companies, the ability to think creatively and outside the box encourages their employees to come up with unique and innovative solutions. This eagerness to solve problems can lead to new ways to accomplish tasks and run an organization more effectively. It supports improving companies’ abilities to attract and retain employees and foster positive environments. For individuals, creativity can be harnessed as a driving force to lead more authentic, motivated and happy lives.

“Creative-tude” is the creative attitude which connects inspiration to meaning in lives and strengthens work confidence. Creativity is the capability to create something novel, unique, and value-adding, resulting in things that are interesting, important and human. Since creativity has not always been fostered as an important life skill, often resulting in people downplaying their creative aptitudes, I coach people to discover their “Creative-tude” by teaching organizational techniques, discovering their story and keeping a soft focus on their overall goals so they may be more inspired and driven in how they live and work!
